Paula's Apple Pie Recipe

 

Pie Crust (enough for one 9 in. pie with some leftover for apple dumplings)
4C flour
1 1/4 C shortening
2 T sugar
1 t salt
1T vinegar
1 egg
1/2 C water

1) Cut shortening into flour, sugar and salt until crumbly.
2) Mix vinegar, egg and water. Beat well and mix with above.
3) Roll out enough crust for bottom and place into 9in. pie dish.



Apple Filling


3 pounds baking apples peeled and sliced
3/4 C sugar
1 1/2 t cinnamon
3/4 t nutmeg

1) Mix together these ingredients and fill pie crust.
2) Sprinkle apple lightly with flour.
3) Dot randomly with daps of butter.
4) Cover with top crust ( I make a lattice pattern.)

Once pie is made, bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 10 min.
Lower heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 min. Then take out pie, brush
with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
Return to oven and bake for additional 10 min.
